Betsy Jordan Edgar contributed this photograph in 2012 and wrote the following description: “Pictured here is the 1929 Marlinton Graded School Basketball Team. From left to right are: Robert Jordan, Earl Overholt, Gerald Gum, Billy Evans, Houston Simmons. This team was the result of the dedication, creativity, and enthusiasm of a young principal that came to Marlinton during the depression years. His name was Zach Johnson, and during this time his leadership gave many of the young people great education opportunity, team sports and school pride. Robert Jordan was my brother, and this photo was given to me by Houston Simmons. I am sure all of these individuals have descendents living in the Pocahontas County area to this day.” Courtesy of Martha Edgar Ness, ID: PHP000855
