Pocahontas Memorial Hospital began offering Physical Therapy services in Green Bank in February 2019. At the time, PMH was the only agency providing such services in the area and patients were seen two days a week. Due to the phenomenal growth and demand for this outlying service, PMH began offering Physical Therapy five days a week in their beautiful space on Cass Road.
Located in the former Meck’s Bakery, the light and airy space is both welcoming and inviting. The building was completely renovated by Jacob and Malinda Meck and is filled with natural light and wooden laminate floors. The building offers a large waiting area as well as two separate patient treatment rooms. The view out the back step is of the impressive Robert C. Byrd Telescope at Green Bank Observatory.
Physical Therapist Bevin Saul and Rehab Assistant Staci Burns are the friendly folks staffing the facility and are extremely proud of the reputation they are building. Since 2019, when they first began working in Green Bank, they have made a point of eating lunch in the area and making themselves a part of the community.
Rehabilitation services are available for anyone in need of treatment in the recovery of a surgery, injury (including sports injuries), illness or other medical condition, such as acute or chronic pain, vertigo, frequent loss of balance or falls, difficulty rising from a low seat and/or difficulty with mobility in general. Physical therapy services have long been the hallmark of the hospital’s rehabilitation services, but occupational and speech therapies are also available – at PMH and the Cass Road location.
Bevin is also certified in Dry Needling, receiving intensive training through Kinetacore in Ashburn, Virginia. Dry needling is an extremely effective treatment for both acute and chronic pain, rehabilitation from injury, and even pain and injury prevention. This technique is unequaled in finding and eliminating neuromuscular dysfunction that leads to pain and functional deficits.
If your healthcare pro-vider recommends that you undergo physical therapy, you can schedule an appointment with PMH’s program just like any other therapy office. You may decide to schedule your physical therapy appointments either at the hospital or at the Cass Road location.
If you have any questions about rehabilitation services or would like to schedule an appointment, please contact the Green Bank/Cass office at 1-681-206-7100. You may also call PMH at 304-799-7400.
