Norman Blake Vance, age 78, passed away at his home in Durbin, Saturday, February 15, 2025.
Born November 24, 1946, in Whitmer, he was a son of the late Covey Brooks “Chippy” and Mary M. Nelson Vance.
Norman grew up in Cheat Bridge and Durbin. He graduated from Green Bank High School in 1965 and was drafted to the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. Norman was honorably discharged and returned to Durbin to live. He worked for the Hercules Corporation in Covington, Virginia, Howes Leather in Frank and was currently employed by Interstate Lumber in Bartow.
Norman enjoyed the company of friends and family. He would spend time locally with Robert and Connie Greulick and Bob Vance. Norman loved Erika and RJ Morgan and found joy in being a part of their lives. He also stayed connected with family in Whitmer. He was fond of Chinese food at the Super China Buffet in Elkins and enjoyed local restaurants in Durbin, Bartow and Boyer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Tammy Oxier.
Those left to cherish his memory are his extended family: Robert and Connie Greulick, Tommy Greulick; Rick, Shawnee, Erika and RJ Morgan; Lee Oxier and wife, Jessie; Anna Kane and husband Mark, Jr; Hallie Kane; Marka Taylor and husband, Travis; Addisyn Taylor; Ellie Greulick; and many other family members and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2025. at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale, with Pastor David Rittenhouse officiating. Burial, with military honors conducted by the Pocahontas County Veterans Honor Corps, will follow at the Arbovale Annex Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from noon until time of service.
