Naomi Gay Wenger Shephard Waybright, age 84, of Staunton, Virginia, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Born February 8, 1932, at Deep Water, she was a daughter of the late Leonard C. and Maudie Dolin Wenger.
Naomi was a member of Linden Heights Baptist Church and the Golden Agers Church Group. She worked for Smith’s Transfer for 10 years as a secretary. She enjoyed church activities, reading and traveling.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Samuel Waybright, Sr.; a sister, Jean Rosencrance; her first husband, Kester Shephard; and an infant son, Dennis Shephard.
She is survived by a daughter, Bonita K. Wine, and husband, Scott, of Waynesboro, Virginia; a step-daughter, Diana Cash, and husband, Gary, of Church-ville, Virginia; four sisters, Carma Domokos, and husband, Marty, of Alabama, Nancy Prockiw, and husband, Orest, of South Carolina, Linda Zambelli, and husband, Bob, of Maryland, and Carolyn Simmons, of West Virginia; three grandchildren, Andrew Lyman, Kayley Lyman and Will Wine; five step-grandchildren, Ashley Wine, Amanda Conner, Michelle Gregory, Tonya Eutsler and Kajun Waybright; eight step-great-grandchildren; longtime friend, Hazel Hisey; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life was held November 15 at Linden Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Luke B. Smith officiating. Interment was in the Arbovale Cemetery. Pallbearers were Andrew Lyman, Kajun Waybright, Jeff Wooddell, Doug Hall, Bob Chandler, Gary Brown, Roger Perry and Dale Humphreys.
