Firefighters continued to monitor the fire in The Old Bank Building Monday evening.
With intentions of letting the fire help with the demolition process, a decision was made earlier today to let the fire burn out the interior and floor joists of the second story, Marlinton Mayor Joe Smith said.
With the supports gone, the plan is for the outside wall to fall into the building.
The three-story wall facing Third Avenue may be weakened, but this evening it is still standing as it has for more than 100 years.
