On this Patriot Day, Thursday, September 11, 2025, residents of Marlinton and visitors can join in a service of Remembrance at 5 p.m., at the gazebo on Main Street.
With other Americans in all parts of the world, we pause and remember one of the darkest days in the history of the United States. We lower our flags to half-staff in solemn remembrance of the 2,977 Amer- ican lives tragically lost that day.
We must never forget the men, women and children who lost their lives 24 years ago today, on September 11, 2001.
By this ceremony, we remember and honor the courage of first responders who went into burning buildings to save others.
We honor the sacrifice of our service men and women who have fought to defend America at home and abroad in the global war on terror that followed. We honor the memory of those who have given their lives, and we pray for the families they left behind.
Most of those innocent victims, who died in the attacks that day, were going about their daily lives, when international terrorism came to our homeland in a way like no one could have imagined. The lives lost since that day are double, due to cancer, respiratory issues and other related causes.
Come join the Remembrance Ceremony, at 5 p.m. on 9-11.
