It has just been little more than a year since the old pavilion at the First Avenue mini park had to be torn down. If you recall, the removal of the fireplace and wall behind it revealed other structural issues, resulting in the demolition. One council member remembered the Rotary Club building the pavilion in the early 70s, making it more than 50 years old.

This update is to let the community know that more work is planned. At the beginning of the summer, I had hoped the project would be completed by now. But, like everything else, things take longer than they seemingly should. So, time is running out on a fall dedication. Some work may have to wait until spring. An entry is planned near the edge of the asphalt that will replicate the exact portion of the front part of the new pavilion. That is to say two upright posts, with the attaching crossbeam at the top.

A metal sign will hang from the connecting crossbeam displaying the new name of the mini-park the “Roger L. Trusler Memorial Park.”

We want the sign in place before completing the landscaping. All should be finished before a dedication is set. As of now, it looks like the dedication will be held in the spring.
