Lucille Burns

Lucille Barlow Burns, age 100, of Marlinton, died Friday, June 23, 2017, at her home.

Born June 18, 1917, at Huntersville, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Isaac and Mabel Goldie Wagner Barlow.

Lucille was a homemaker. She was a member of Eastern Star for more than 50 years and a member of the Marlinton Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred C. Burns, Sr.; a brother, Maynard Barlow; six sisters, Myrtle Atkins, Madeline McComb, Nell Shrader, Louise McNeel, Juanita Patterson and Evelyn Williams; and a son-in-law, Fred Smith.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda Burns Smith, of Lewisburg; three sons, Fred C. Burns, Jr., and wife, Carolyn, Thomas W. Burns, and wife, Dreama, and Larry L. Burns, and wife, Sheila, all of Marlinton; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held June 26 at the Marlinton Presbyterian Church with Pastor Rachel Shepherd officiating. Interment was in Mountain View Cemetery in Marlinton.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a memorial gift in Lucille’s honor to the Marlinton Presbyterian Church, PO Box 30, Marlinton, WV 24954.
