Pocahontas County Libraries and Visitor Information Centers will participate in its first Take Your Child to the Library Day Saturday, February 3.
Although new to Pocahontas County, the annual celebration was launched in Connecticut in 2012 and has spread to nearly 1,000 libraries in 49 states and five different countries.
This event promotes libraries as vibrant, family-friendly community centers that enrich, educate and entertain.
Each of the five library branches will offer free activities for children.
Bring the kids in to sign up for a library card, read a book together, design a bookmark, receive a free book, and decorate a tote to use as a personalized book bag.
Stop by the Durbin, Green Bank, Hillsboro, Linwood or Marlinton branch anytime between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to participate while supplies last.
McClintic Library will also have a special read aloud, games and other activities for kids from 10:30 a.m. until noon.
This is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of the new Saturday hours at the library and start a new family tradition – make Saturdays “Library Day.”
