Dear Editor:
It breaks my heart to read the names of the soldiers killed and wounded in Viet Nam in the Fifty Years Ago section of The Pocahontas Times. Many of them were my friends and classmates. Just as heartbreaking is to read, alongside these names, the names of those killed and wounded 100 years ago in the First World War.
As the song “Where Have All the Flowers Gone?” says, “When will we ever learn?”
Thank you for publishing the names of the fallen and those who served.
We should never forget.
