Editor,
Let me begin by saying I am completely in favor of our right as Americans to voice our opinions about almost everything. This includes our opinions about elections/candidates. As the general election draws near, political signs are popping up like ragweed.
It is unfortunate some folks think it is appropriate to display signs that support their candidate of choice alongside signs that have uncouth messages about an opposing candidate.
On a recent visit to my favorite place in the world, I encountered this situation in Mill Point. Prominently displayed beside the main road through Pocahontas County were signs that left me scratching my head. I do not want to portray myself as prim and proper, I am definitely not. I just cannot help but wonder about residents and visitors driving by having to explain to children in the vehicle what “kneepad Harris” means. It just seems so unnecessary to me.
Maybe you agree supporting your candidate with civility and class is the right thing to do?
