Open Letter:
Citizens of Pocahontas County;
The Pocahontas County Commission had a very important NOTICE in the legal section of last week’s edition of The Pocahontas Times. This NOTICE requested that subscribers of Dish/DIRECTV write letters or emails of support for getting West Virginia TV stations into Pocahontas County. It is vital for our citizens to get WV News, WV Weather reports and, during times of crisis, to obtain accurate messages from government officials
During the COVID-19 pandemic, our governor had daily briefings of utmost importance concerning updates and executive orders for businesses and citizens, which many could not receive.
Here is the irony of the situation: if you own property and have a West Virginia address, for example in Fairmont, Elkins, Charleston or about any city outside of Pocahontas County and have your Dish Network bill mailed to that address, you do not have to put up with Virginia News/weather, etc. You can receive West Virginia Channels serving that area. Many of you have been frustrated by not receiving West Virginia Channels and have called Dish/DIRECTV – getting no satisfactory answer.
So, Citizens of Pocahontas County, let your commissioners know how inconvenient and demoralizing it is to live in West Virginia and not receive West Virginia news/weather. Correspondence can be sent to Pocahontas County Commission, 900 Tenth Ave., Marlinton, WV 24954 or email: pocahontascoclerk@aol.com
Deadline to let your voice be heard is June 18.
