Joe Philmore “Phil” Kerr, age 75, of Columbiana, Ohio, died Thursday, May 8, 2014, at 8:30 a.m.
Born October 6, 1938 at Green Bank, he was a son of the late Joe B. and Marjorie Lawton Kerr.
Phil lived in the Columbiana, Ohio, area for 45 years and had been a teacher at Boardman High School for 37 years as well as operating Country Lane Tree Farm for more than 15 years. He was of the Presbyterian faith and had been a member of the Liberty Presbyterian Church in Green Bank.
Over the years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and lounging at the Kerr Cabin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Donna Dean and Jolene Lantz.
He is survived by his wife, Vonda K. Kingdon Kerr, whom he married August 12, 1960; three sons, Craig Kerr, and wife, Erin, of Hillsboro; Cory Kerr, and, wife, Cheryl, of Jackson, Ohio, and Christopher Kerr, and wife, Constance, of Vinton, Ohio; three sisters, Dians Sharp, and husband, Richard, of Willerboro, South Carolina, Jaynne Vance, of Salem, Virginia, and Jeanne Heavener, and husband, Tim, of Durbin; three brothers, Dr. Kirklyn Kerr, and wife, Anna, of Ashford, Connecticut, Jerry Kerr, and wife, Karen, of Warren, Ohio, and J.B. Kerr, and wife, Kathy, of Green Bank; and four grandchildren.
Funeral service is May 14 at Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home in Colum-biana, Ohio, with Rev. Renae Meggett officiating. Family will receive friends Friday, May 16, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Liberty Presbyterian Church in Green Bank. A committal service will follow in the Arbovale Cemetery with Rev. Bill Cox officiating.
