Jean Kinsey Stockwell Tarver, age 76, of Alexandria, Louisiana, died at her home, Thursday, December 1, 2016, after a short battle with cancer. Melinda Freeman, her honorary granddaughter, cared for her during her illness.
Born August 11, 1940, in Paducah, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Edward Carl and Jean Kinsey Price Stockwell; and a granddaughter of the late Dr. Norman R. and Jean Kinsey Price.
Jean was a graduate of Vanderbilt University and received her Master’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin. She retired as a speech and hearing consultant in Alexandria, Louisiana.
In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James McQuaig; and her second husband, William L. Tarver.
She is survived by her cousins; honorary granddaughter, Melinda Freeman; and honorary great-granddaughters, Brianna Davis, Madeline Davis and Jade Correll.
A memorial service is tentatively planned for Saturday, December 17. Gallagher Funeral Home in Ball, Louisiana, is in charge of arrangements.
