James “Curtis” Long, Sr., 84, of Green Bank, passed away Wednesday July 3, 2024.
Born July 13, 1939, at Cass, he was a son of the late Leonard James and Leatha Smith Long.
Curtis retired from Howe’s Leather as a Foreman after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Pine Grove Church of the Brethren and a United States Army Veteran with three years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and dearly loved his 1957 Chevy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Cassell Long; sisters, Helen Mullenax and Loretta Bridges; brothers, Leonard Long and Robert Long; and grandson, Darrell Jordan Jr.
He is survived by his daughters, Sandra Jordan, and husband, James, and Sabrina Jordan, and husband, Darrell, all of Marlinton; son, James Curtis Long, Jr., of Cass; grandchildren, Pamela Burns, Angela Williamson, Meggan Long and Kayala Jordan; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Joann Kramer, and husband, Bob, of Marlinton, Evelyn Brown, of Arbovale, Louise Adams, and husband, Boyd, of North Carolina, and Ellen Taylor, and husband, John, of Boyer.
Funeral service was held Monday, July 8, 2024, at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home with Pastor Julian Rittenhouse officiating. Burial, with military honors by the Pocahontas County Veterans Honor Corps, was in Wanless Cemetery on Back Mountain near Cass.
