James T. “Ted” Arbogast, age 79, of DuBois, Pennsylvania, passed away Friday, December 22, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born on March 31, 1944, in Madison, he was a son of the late Pershing A. and Ruby Evans Arbogast.
Ted graduated from Green Bank High School in 1962. He drove log trucks and worked at Bledsoe’s Garage in Bartow before joining the Army in 1963. He completed basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and was stationed El Paso, Texas, before going overseas to Germany.
On August 30, 1964, Ted married his wife of 59 years, Karen Kane Arbogast, who survives.
After returning from Germany and being honorably discharged from the Army as an SP-5, he attended and graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering and a secondary degree in Computer Science.
Ted and Karen moved to DuBois in 1973 after he accepted a position with Brockway Glass/Owens Illinois as in Industrial Engineer in MIS where he continued to work until retirement in 2000. His expertise in computers carried long into his retirement.
He loved to fish, go camping, make maple syrup, restore old cars and remodel his house. He was an avid woodworker, antique car enthusiast and attended many car shows.
Ted had been a member of the Olympic Athletic Club, Falls Creek Eagles, American Legion, DuBois Lions Club, Sandy Club and the American Institute of Industrial Engineers.
He was Protestant by faith.
In addition to his wife, Ted is survived his sons, J.T. Arbogast, and wife, Kimberly Dilts, of Stamford, Connecticut, and Jonathan Arbogast, of New York, New York; and his sister, Janet Warner Arbogast, of Marlinton.
A graveside service will be held Friday, January 5, 2024, at noon from Arbovale Cemetery in Arbovale. Full Military Honors will be accorded at the cemetery.
