Helen Rogers Sharp, age 82, of Marlinton, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Pocahontas Center in Marlinton, following a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Born November 7, 1934, at Buckeye, she was a daughter of the late William H. and Susie Kellison Rogers.
Helen retired from Hanover Shoe Company. She was a member of Central Union Church, Order of Eastern Star and Relay For Life. She loved music, and is remembered for playing piano at various churches, weddings and funeral services for many years.
Helen will be greatly missed by her family and friends, whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wade T. Sharp; sisters, Gladys Carpenter, Grace Workman and Barbara Rogers; and a brother, Donald Sharp.
She is survived by three sons, Roger Sharp, and wife, Jeanie, of Hillsboro, Gary Sharp, and wife, Marie, of Marlinton, and Ronald Sharp, and wife, Debra, of Ft. Defiance, Virginia; six grandchildren, Lora Annett, and husband, Jonathan, Tessa White, Eric Sharp, and wife, Leslie, Jennifer Fessler, and husband, Chris, Ben Sharp and Joe Sharp; and seven great-grandchildren, Chloe Annett, Alison White, Lainy Sharp, Easton Sharp, Henry Fessler, Brooks Fessler and Connor Fessler. She also leaves behind three sisters, Betty Carpenter, of Scott Depot, Dorothy Jackson, of Elyria, Ohio, and Phyllis Barnett, of Hurricane; and many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Friday, February 24, from 6 to 9 p.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home in Marlinton. Funeral service is Saturday, February 25, 2:30 p.m. at Central Union Church. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
