The Green Bank Gallery will host a stained glass class with instructor David Houser May 18 through 20, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Durbin Community Library.
Thursday and Friday will feature the West Virginia Star quilt square, made with all West Virginia glass. Saturday’s class will be Annie’s Choice quilt square.
All glass for the projects is pre-cut by Houser who will also provide the equipment needed to make the glass creations. Students will be able to select from a variety of colors to make a one-of-a-kind piece.
Houser began his career in 1981 as a teacher and artist, following in his father’s footsteps. His father was self-trained in the European style of stained glass, which House prefers.
Houser has spent decades traveling the state, teaching the art of stained glass. He has taught at the Augusta Heritage Fair and at the Cedar Lakes Conference Center in Jackson County.
No prior experience is needed, but there is an age limit. Participants must be 16 years of age or older.
Cost for the class is $50 and space is limited.
