Grand jury hands up indictments

The August 2025 Grand Jury convened Tuesday, August 4, in the Pocahontas County Circuit Courtroom and handed up indictments against the following five individuals.

Arraignment hearings before the Honorable Patrick I. Via are scheduled for Wed-nesday, August 13.

Genevieve R. Madison, 53, of Marlinton – one count, malicious or unlawful assault (wounding), a felony; one count, domestic battery, a misdemeanor.

Charles R. Calhoun, 40, of Marlinton – one count, possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, a Schedule II, controlled non-narcotic substance, a felony; one count, conspiracy, a felony.

Cassey M. Beverage, 33, of Marlinton – one count, possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, a Schedule II, controlled non-narcotic substance, a felony; one count, conspiracy, a felony.

Roger A. Watson, Jr., 34, of Marlinton – one count, burglary, a felony; one count, petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

Michael E. Smith, 65, of Durbin – one count strangulation, a felony; one count, domestic battery, a misdemeanor; one count domestic assault, a misdemeanor.

An indictment is not proof of guilt. A person is considered innocent until found guilty by a jury of their peers or pleads guilty in court.
