Emily Joy Wade, age 69, of Neola, passed away Monday, January 20, 2014, at her home.
Born at Bacova in Bath County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Corbett H. and Eugie Mae Griffin Ryder.
After graduating high school, Emily worked as a counselor and security guard at Anthony Correctional Center in Neola. She attended the May Chapel United Methodist Church in Neola.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred J. Wade in 2010; and a daughter, Brenda Scott.
She is survived by her grandson and granddaughter, Thomas Scott and Lucy Scott; sisters, Nancy Hefner, of Neola, Margie Newlin, of Winchester, Virginia, and Mildred Wombold, of Greenview, Ohio; area nieces and nephews, Wanda Young, Grant Wade, George Hefner and Andy Hefner, and several other nieces and nephews living out of the area; sister-in-law, Liz Tacker, of Pikesville, Kentucky; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Karen Wade, of Neola.
Funeral service was January 24 at May Chapel United Methodist Church in Neola with Rev. Gerald Roberts officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
