Edith Maria Anna Cummins, age 84, of Bartow, passed away Monday, June 20, 2016, at her home.
Born March 15, 1932, in Heidelberg, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Ludwig Wahl and Emma Weber.
At the young age of 12, Edith translated for the allies during World War II. She was a teletype operator for the Army, where she met her loving husband, Henry Allen Cummins. She worked as a laborer, packing shoes for Hanover Shoe Company. She was a proud Elder of the New Life in Christ Fellowship.
She is survived by her sons, Josef Cummins, and wife, Renate, of Marlinton, Frank Cummins, and wife, Ann, of Durbin, and Jack Cummins, of Bartow; daughters, Esthel Summerfield, and husband, Robert, and Caren Bondura, all of Baltimore, Maryland, and Tina Walther, and husband, Richard, of Bartow; a step-daughter, Donna Diercks, of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren, Arianna, Brian, Chase, Chance, Jessica, Judd, Marcus and Samantha; two step-grandchildren, Dana and Doug; great-grandchildren, Aden, Liam and Henry; one step-great-grandchild, Caitlyn; a first cousin, Rudi Weber, of Heidelberg, Germany, who was like a brother to her; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service is Friday, June 24, 2 p.m. at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale with Pastors Randy Ware and David Rittenhouse officiating. Interment will be in the Arbovale Cemetery. Family will receive friends from noon until time of service.
