Dwight Shields, age 88, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at Sunset Nursing Home in Rocky River, Ohio.
Born May 28, 1929,at Stony Bottom, he was a son of the late Louis and Genevieve Shinaberry Shields.
Dwight grew up in Stony Bottom and left to go to Cleveland, Ohio, where he worked and retired from the steel mills.
While growing up in Stony Bottom, Dwight attended Alexander Memorial Presbyterian Church. He was quite the prankster. He was a United States Air Force Veteran and a 32nd Degree Free Mason.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Catherine Shields; a sister, Ella Mae Simmonds; and two brothers, James Shields and Hamilton Shields.
He is survived by two sisters, Elanor Waggoner, of Tennessee, and Leota Abdella, of Huntersville. He was the cherished and loving father of Debra and Dr. Hector Marchand, of Indiana, Pamela and Dante Spagnoli, Sandra and Charles Novack and Adrina and David Niederst, all of Ohio; loving grandfather of Melissa Marchand, Dr. Hector Marchard, Jr., and Dr. Jeanette Marchand, Amanda Eichelsderfer and David, Rachel Rossi and Dr. Peter Rossi, Dr. Jeremy and Dr. Emily Marchland, Michael Niederst and Melody, Ashley Rothstein and Alan, Kelsey and Greg Pennypacker, Kaitlin Rastatter and Matt, and Charles D. Novack, Jr.; a host of loving friends and relatives; and his loving companion of 11 years, Flo Limmerman.
Dwight was loved by all and will be missed by many.
Funeral service was held April 13 at Bush Funeral Home and Crematory of Parma, Ohio. The body was cremated and some of the cremains will be brought back to Stony Bottom at a later date to be spread on his property.
