Clifford George “Chub” Townsend, age 79, of Durbin, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at his home.
Born August 28, 1934, at Durbin, he was a son of the late Flossie Townsend, who passed away when Chub was four. He was raised by the late Lucy and Jesse Townsend.
Chub was an employee of Howes Leather Company for 41 year, Interstate Hardwoods for six years and the West Virginia Forestry Service for five years. He was a member of the New Hope Brethren Church at Frost and was a United States Army Veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sheila Slavens; and a special cousin, Louise Bennett.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Sue Townsend; a daughter, Terry Bennett, and husband, Frank A. Bennett, Jr., of Huttonsville, and a son, Clifford G. “Butch” Townsend, Jr., of East Dailey.
Family will receive friends Friday, November 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the New Hope Brethren Church at Frost. Funeral service is Saturday, November 23, 1 p.m. at the New Hope Brethren Church at Frost with Revs. David Rittenhouse and Julian Rittenhouse officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
