There’s nothing like opening a book and eagerly turning pages as the story unfolds, except perhaps the feeling your get when you turn on your mp3 player or start your car and hear someone reading a book to you – complete with voices for each character.
Pocahontas County Free Libraries and Visitors Information Centers is a great place to get your hands on classic and new hardbacks, paperbacks or audiobooks. But did you know you can also borrow digital versions of books on your tablet or phone?
With the WVReads Libby App, it’s easy to do and you can check out books, audio books and magazines that may not be on the shelves of your local library.
All you need is a library card and a device. On the back of your library card, there is a four-digit code that you use as your PIN when you log-in to the Libby App. If you can’t find your card, you can call your local library to get the code and, at the same time, to make sure your card is active.
Next, you need to download the Libby App, either from the Apple App Store or from Google Play. It’s free to download and only takes a few seconds.
Open the app once it’s downloaded and it will ask for your home library. Type in Greenbrier County Public Library which is the network Pocahontas County libraries belongs to. It will then ask for your four-digit code.
From there, you are free to search through the digital library. You will be able to check out e-books, magazines and audio books for two weeks. If it is a popular book, you will be put on a list and told when the book is available for you to borrow.
It will show up in your reading app and when the two weeks are over, it will disappear. It’s as simple as that.
If you have any questions or difficulty with the process, contact your local library for assistance.
