The Pocahontas County Board of Education received good news Monday from the West Virginia School Building Authority concerning the Major Improvements Project [MIP] grant the board submitted.
The SBA approved funding of the entire project in the amount of $925,443. The project is to replace the sewer system at Pocahontas County High School, as well as doors, windows and roof of the PCHS vocational building.
“It is going to move us forward,” director of maintenance Ron Hall said.
The board is also in the process of finding a new building to house the board office. According to board president Emery Grimes, the board has not made a decision on the new location, but has looked at a few potential buildings.
The next board of education meeting is Monday, July 10, at 6 p.m., at the board of education conference room.
