Alleene Susan Marsh, age 87, of Saratoga, California, entered Heaven on Thursday, May 22, 2014.
Born May 17, 1927, at Cass, she was the second child of Pearl and Minnie Kesler.
She graduated from Green Bank High School and continued her education and received a diploma from Mountain State College in Parkersburg on July 19, 1945.
Alleene married Telford Marsh December 7, 1946, in Winchester, Virginia. They were married for more than 67 years. She met Telford, as a Pen Pal during World War II, when her cousin Ray Thomas and Telford were stationed in the Pacific.
She worked as a medical transcriptionist for 30 years. She was employed by the National Institutes of Health in Baltimore, Maryland, and Roseville Hospital in Roseville, California, after she and Telford moved to California in 1979. She excelled at her work, and received many awards and commedations.
Alleene enjoyed many dinners and barbecues that extended family held almost weekly while living in Baltimore. Especially memorable were the Christmas gatherings at her mother-in-law’s, attended by up to 20 family members, when the tables would be overflowing with Pennsylvania Dutch cooking. Telford’s sister, Eileen, played piano and led in singing Christmas carols, gifts were exchanged and of course, the kids were looking for snow, which did happen on occasion.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Marsh; and brothers, Harold, Gene and Paul.
She is survived by her husband, Telford Marsh, of Scotts Valley, California; a son, David Marsh, and wife, Patricia, of Aptos, California; a sister, Audrey Ellingwoods, of Lincoln, Califor- nia; and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank her caregivers at Saratoga Retirement Community Health Center for their compassionate care.
Burial will take place at a later date in Cass.
