Janice Lee Phillips, 57, of Hot Springs, Virginia, formerly of Indian Trail, North Carolina, passed away Monday, August 12, 2024, in Lewis Gale Hospital – Montgomery, Blacksburg.
Born May 27, 1967, in Landsdale, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of Barbara Kay Patterson Phillips, of Hot Springs, Virginia, and the late Clark Phillips Jr.
Roman Catholic in faith, she was raised in and attended school at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, Charlotte, North Carolina. After high school, Janice began her career working alongside her father at Phillips Machine Company. She enjoyed time spent fishing and hunting, as well as playing cards with family and friends. She loved traveling to the beach and visiting with family in the mountains of Virginia and West Virginia. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking and camping.
Known as “Babe” to her family, she was the baby of the family and the lucky recipient of the extra attention that came with the title. She loved Halloween and always put extra effort into her costumes. She loved music of all kinds, especially 80s classic rock.
Despite her recent decline in health, her family will always remember her as a down to earth person, with a happy and outgoing spirit.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a dear and special friend, Mandy Miller, whom Janice considered a daughter; as well as Mandy’s daughters, Jenna and Ava Miller, all of Monroe, North Carolina; brother, Clark Phillips III, of Port Saint Joe, Florida.; sister, Ann Hise, and husband, DeWayne “Butch,” of Hot Springs, Virginia; nephew, Elliott Boyd, of Monterey, Virginia; niece, Crystal Phillips, of Weyers Cave, Virginia; and an uncle, John Patterson, and wife, Patricia, of Cross, South Carolina.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Hot Springs Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1112, Hot Springs, Virginia 24445.
