The first First Friday of the 2024 summer series at Discovery Junction is now complete. All went well under the direction of various volunteers. From my perspective, the event was well attended, and everyone seemed to have a good time. Of course, the splash pad is open and is always a hit with the kids.
A water leak has been repaired in the intersection of 10th Avenue and 10th Street. This leak was different in the fact that no water was coming to the surface. The leak was identified by the pavement sinking. The low spot was filled last summer and had sunk again. DOH will be spot paving in Marlinton this week, or next. That spot and others should be repaired in the next two weeks.
In the meantime, the ditch has been filled with compacted gravel and a traffic cone was placed in the intersection to warn approaching motorists of the unpaved area. Anyone on 10th Avenue would have seen the traffic cone Friday night and Saturday. However, by Sunday morning the traffic cone had disappeared.
I don’t know what a thief does with a traffic cone, but I do know it costs twenty-five dollars to replace it.
That’s it for this week., except DON’T FORGET YOUR MOTHER.
Mother’s Day Sunday, May 12.
