Douglas “Doug” Sharp, 48, of Marlinton, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Born May 24, 1975, in Elkins, he was a son of Claude Jr. and Doris Jack Sharp, of Marlinton.
Doug was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Claude Sr. and Grace Sharp; maternal grandparents, Dean and Izetta Jack; and step-grandmother, Vi Jack.
Doug was a timber cutter, a job he really enjoyed. He also worked as an electrical utility worker for New River Electrical, and had worked for J.W. Didado and Richard and Waylons Electrical.
He dearly loved hunting and fishing, especially Colorado elk hunting, camping trips, North Carolina fishing and enjoyed beach trips and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sons, Garrett Sharp, and wife, Olivia, of Covington, Virginia, Dustin Sharp, of Marlinton, and J.D. Sharp, and Bella Dean, of Fairmont; nine grandchildren, Adaylynn, Sophia, Riley, Averyana, Albert, Aspen, Ans- ley, Maddy and Lainey; and several nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Lantz Funeral Home in Buckeye.
In keeping with Doug’s wishes, the body will be cremated.
