Chad Burns was selected to play in the 2015 WCHS Fox-11 North-South All-Star Football Classic at Laidley Field in Charleston June 20.
Burns was chosen by Luke Salmons, head coach of Cabell Midland, who was tapped this year to be the head coach of the South Cardinals.
The North and South coaches select 40 seniors for each team to play in the Classic. Both teams stay on the campus of West Virginia State University in Institute for the week leading up to the game. This allows them time to learn the offensive and defensive systems their respective coaches will be implementing in the game.
The game itself was dampened by heavy rains which lasted throughout the first half. These conditions contributed to several turnovers in what turned out to be a defensive battle.
The South ended up with a 7-0 win.
Burns was starting left tackle on offense for the South.
He is a 2015 graduate of Pocahontas County High school, and the son of Doug and Stephanie Burns, of Marlinton.
