MonPower has schduled a power interruption for Wednesday, July 15, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. which will affect several areas of Pocahontas County
MonPower regrets the inconvenience, but the work is necessary to help enhance service reliability in the area.
The interruption will affect about 3,100 customers in the vicinity of Buckeye, Cass, Dunmore, Marlinton, Minnehaha Springs and Stony Bottom.
Specifically, the work will involve replacing two transmission structures damaged by high winds and heavy snow during a November 2014 storm. Temporary repair measures were taken at that time in order to restore electricity as quickly as possible.
Significant work is required at a three-pole transmission structure located well off the road between Stony Bottom and Clover Lick.
Crews will use a bulldozer to drag poles and the pole setter to the location before work can begin.
A storm-damaged single-pole transmission structure will also be replaced along Little Italy Road outside of Marlinton.
In addition to the above scheduled maintenance, MonPower crews will use this time to set two new poles to accommodate new switching devices. Those poles will be located between Marlinton and Clover Lick, and along Little Italy Road.
This preparation work will shorten the power interruption time set for October when the switches will be installed.
MonPower will attempt to contact affected customers by phone prior to the outage.
In case of inclement weather, the outage will be rescheduled for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, July 16.
Questions about the planned outage may be directed to MonPower Customer Service at 800-686- 0022.
