Students of Julia Bauserman displayed their musical talents at a spring concert Thursday evening at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory in Green Bank.
Five students, ages three to 16, played the piano and guitar, and sang and danced the night away as they performed for parents and members of the community.
The youngest students, Heath Balin, five, and Azalea Balin, three, sang and danced “Hello Song,” “Happy and You Know It,” “Racing Car,” “Hokie Pokie,” and “Wheels on the Bus,” with help from Bauserman and the audience.
Heath then took his turn at the piano playing “Song of Joy,” “This Little Light of Mine,” “Amazing Grace,” and “Flying Fingers” – a duet with Bauserman.
Seven-year-old Caleb McCarty played “Lazy Lion,” “Buzzing Bees,” “At the Beach,” “School Bus,” and “Roller Coaster Ride.” He concluded with his own version of a Star Wars song.
Alan Gibson, 11, played “Boogie Beat,” and played and sang “When the Saints Go Marching In,” and “Amazing Grace.”
Sixteen-year-old Marilyn Creager performed “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” accompanying herself on guitar, and on piano, played “Fur Elise,” and Prelude in C Major.”
At the close of the concert, Bauserman performed “Elephant Walk,” “Hello Heaven,” an original written by Arbovale resident Harold Crist; “Let It Go,” with vocal accompaniment by Avery McCarty, 5; and “Eternal Life.”
