Gilbert C. “Bub” Varner, age 89, of Ross, Ohio, and a native of Durbin, Boyer Siding, died Monday, April 27, 2015.
Bub retired from the C&O Railroad with 43 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Lillie Cassell Varner; his wife, Phyllis Patrick Varner; and sisters, Louise Humphreys, Thelma George and Evelyn Louhoff.
He is survived by his children, Joyce Varner, Glenna Varner, Mike Varner, and wife, Melanie, and Donna Ison; grandchildren, Michael Varner, and wife, Ashley, Chris Halcomb, Jennifer Beckman, and husband, Eric, and Brittany Cole, and husband, Joshua; great-grandchildren, Colton, Kenadie, Logan, Kasadie, Brooklyn, Riley, Caleb, Emmalyn and Khloie; a sister, Louise Humphreys; brothers-and-sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was May 2 at Dennis George Funeral Home in Cleves, Ohio. Interment was in Venice Cemetery Ross, Fairfield, Ohio.
