The Town of Marlinton was pleased to host the official Opening and Dedication of Discovery Junction Saturday.
When a neighbor told me he went to three different stores, trying to buy lawn chairs, I knew it was going to be a good day. With other events going on locally, I was more than impressed with the number of people who showed up to be a part of, and to experience the dedication program in person.
Words of greetings and recognition were sent from the Governor’s Office, via representative Lynn Phillips. Senator Bill Hamilton, Delegates Ty Nester and Cody Thompson came with well-wishes of their own and recognized the community support that made the project a reality.
The majority of those attending came early and stayed late, indicating their appreciation of the music, provided by Mud-Hole Control, The Black Mountain Bluegrass Boys, the Bing Brothers Band and Jake Krack.
The weather cooperated and made for an enjoyable afternoon.

This Memorial Day weekend, remember those soldiers – men and women – who died in military service, making the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
The Pocahontas County Honor Corps will hold a Memorial Service at Mountain View Cemetery Sunday, May 30, at 12:30 p.m. They will also hold a service at the Arbovale Cemetery at 2 p.m.
