149 selectees from Pocahontas County “answered the call” and reported for Roll Call on April 29, 1942. They pose here on the lawn of the Courthouse for one last photo before marching down Court Street to board the troop train at the Marlinton Railroad Depot. This was the largest group to assemble for transportation to an examining station for examination and induction into the Armed Services during World War II. The photograph was taken by Cal Gay.
