Dorothy M. Shaver Bennett, age 71, of Slaty Fork, died Sunday, September 21, 2014, at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins.
Born December 12, 1942, at Marlinton, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Lorraine Crickard Shaver.
Dorothy was a retired postmaster.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Sharp; and two brothers, John Henry Shaver and Leon Crickard.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Bennett, of Slaty Fork; daughters, Kathy Carpenter, and husband, Aaron, of Marlinton; Roberta Rosencrance, and husband, Timmy, of Slaty Fork, and Sandra Beckwith, and husband, Ronald, of Valley Head; sons, Randall Bennett and Robert Bennett, Jr., both of Buckeye; sisters, Doris Wood, of Wheatfield, Indiana, and Karen Shearer, of Marlinton; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, September 24, from 6 to 9 p.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home. Funeral service Thursday, September 25, 2 p.m. at the Slaty Fork Methodist Church with Sam Felton and Ann Fretwell officiating. Interment will be in the Gibson Cemetery in Slaty Fork.
