Charlotte Mae Tuner Griffin, age 84, of Lundhurst, Virginia, formerly of Dunmore, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014.
Born December 20, 1929, at Mill Gap, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Moffett Brown and Lottie Mae Doyle Turner.
Charlotte had taken care of her three children after the death of her husband. She was employed at Cass Scenic Railroad as a ticket agent until her retirement.
She had resided with her daughter and spouse, and faithfully attended Lynside Menonite Church. She was a former member of the Dunmore United Methodist Church.
Charlotte loved tending her flower and vegetable gardens, canning, crocheting, quilting and cross-stitch. She was best known among her family for her lemon and mincemeat pies. She and her sister, Freda, organized many family gatherings and reunions.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond “Jack” Griffin; and a brother, Jim Turner.
She is survived by a sister, Freda Bird, of Blue Grass, Virginia; a daughter, Anna Lowery, and husband, Joe, of Lyndhurst, Virginia; two sons, Harold Griffin, and wife, Joyce, of Lyndhurst, Virginia, and Frank Griffin, and wife, Barbara, of Morgantown; grandchildren, Chris Griffin, and fiancée, Charity Blotteaux, of Clarksburg, Amanda Griffin, and friend, James Driscole, of Miami, Florida, and Nathan McManis, and wife, Elizabeth, of Charlotte, North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Brandon Griffin, Brittany Blotteaux and Nathaniel James McManis, II; special granddog, Wallace “Wally”; many nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Shelby Rusokoff, and husband, John, of Salisbury, Maryland; and brother-in-law, Everett Griffin, of Morgantown.
A memorial service was held at the Lynside Mennonite Church in Lyndhurst, Virginia, with Pastor’s Gordon Miller and Robert Mansfield officiating.
Funeral service is March 5, 1 p.m. at the Dunmore United Methodist Church with Rev. David Rittenhouse officiating. Interment will be in the Dunmore Cemetery. Family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Pallbearers are Chris Griffin, Nathan McManis, James Driscole, Bill Hoover, Charles Hoover and Harmon Gray.
