The Williams River Road is not open to through traffic (e.g. from the Highland Scenic Highway all the way downstream to Dyer) because of a big slide just downstream of the Three Forks Bridge. Most of the road width has slid off the mountain in that area making it impassable by motor vehicles. The Forest has closed the road, using gates, on both sides of the slide.
However, people can drive in from either the upstream or downstream side of the slide.
From the upstream/Marlinton side: People can drive the Williams River Road from the Highland Scenic Highway to Tea Creek Campground to the Three Forks Bridge. All roadside campsites are open.
From the downstream/ Dyer side: People can drive the Williams River Road as far as a parking lot near Spice Run Road – located downstream of the private property that is near White Oak Run.
