The Pocahontas County Arts Council presented awards to three top art students at Pocahontas County High School last week in recognition of their talents.
PCAC president Cynthia Gurreri honored Dylan Workman, Grace Schebek and Laura Leyzorek, all of whom were nominated by PCHS art teacher Diana Nelson.
Workman won the Top Ceramics Student award. He is the son of Jason and Michelle Workman.
Schebeck was presented the Senior Art Award and was recognized for her achievement in the Triarco Arts and Crafts contest. Schebek won fourth place in the nationwide contest which had the theme “A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words.”
Schebek won art supplies from Triarco and her entry will be published in the 2018 catalog. Triarco also awarded a $50 gift card to Nelson for the art department.
Schebek is the daughter of Rosemary Shell.
Leyzorek was awarded the Top Art Student Award and was also recognized for winning the West Virginia Art Education Association’s Certificate Design Contest. Her winning design is featured on all the certificates presented to participants and winners of Youth Art Month contests and activities. The winning entry may be found on WVAEAs website.
Leyzorek is the daughter of Brooke Leyzorek and John Leyzorek.
