Service interruption for emergency power line repairs for parts of Pocahontas County is scheduled for Sunday, May 7
Mon Power will need to interrupt electric service for several areas of Pocahontas County.
Mon Power regrets the inconvenience, but the work is necessary to make emergency repairs to a critical power line.
The interruption will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., affecting about 2,725 customers in Dunmore, Frost, Sitlington, Marlinton (area and town itself), Buckeye, Huntersville, Woodrow, Edray, Clover Lick and Minnehaha Springs.
Specifically, the work will involve replacing a length of damaged wire between Edray and Clover Lick. The stretch of line is remote and inaccessible to bucket trucks. Line crews will need to pack in tools and material, and climb poles to make repairs. A recent helicopter patrol discovered the damage, likely caused by a lightning strike. The damage occurred before Monday’s storm.
Mon Power will attempt to contact affected customers by phone prior to the outage.
Customers with questions about the planned outage can call Mon Power’s Customer Service at 1-800-686-0022.
