At Pocahontas Memorial Hospital, our Auxiliary Volunteers are a vital part of our organization’s family. The PMH Auxiliary was formed in 1972 with 94 active and associate members and since that time has contributed more than $150,000 in equipment and improvements at the hospital. Monies are raised through various fundraisers throughout the year and through sales at the hospital Gift Shop.
The Gift Shop at PMH is maintained by the Auxiliary and it is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Volunteers in the gift shop include Nancy Friel, Barbara Campbell and Evilene Beverage. If the Gift Shop is not open, the Radiology Department will gladly assist you. The Gift Shop has recently been redecorated and stock is continually updated.
Annual Health Fair
The Annual Health Fair at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital will be Friday, May 12, from 7 a.m. until noon. It promises to be a fun-filled morning with food, door prizes, and more than 30 health-related exhibits and displays from organizations around the county and state.
Free blood pressure checks, eye screenings, hearing evaluations, cooking demonstrations, as well as a HealthNet Helicopter landing are all in the plans for Friday.
And, of course, everyone is encouraged to take advantage of the blood screenings being offered by the PMH Medical Clinical Laboratory.
The standard Executive I screening includes testing for cardiac, liver, cholesterol, hematology, thyroid function and electrolytes. This screening would typically cost more than $500, but during the Health Fairs PMH offers it for just $25. If men would like to include a PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen), the total cost is $30. Other tests are also available at a discounted rate, including the A1C, Vitamin D, and heel bone density tests.
Results from the blood screenings will be mailed to your home in seven to 10 days and, upon request, will also be provided to your regular healthcare provider. Lab results are also available in 72 hours through the LabCorp Patient Portal. You can sign up for the portal today by visiting patient.labcorp.com.
