John William “Bill” Palmer, age 83, of Hillsboro, died Monday, January 23, 2017, at his home.
Born December 31, 1933, at Buckeye, he was a son of the late Elmer Lee and Wynema Weiford Palmer.
Bill was a retired heavy equipment operator. He was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict, a member of the American Legion, American Coon Hunters Association and a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Marie Ervine, Betty Deitz and Jeanette Broyles; and a brother, Eddie Palmer.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Palmer, of Hillsboro; two daughters, Tina Kromoff, and husband, Mike, of Jonesborough, Tennessee, and Gina Duncan, and husband, John, of Buckeye; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Friday, January 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church in Buckeye. Funeral service is Saturday, January 28, 11 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church with Pastor G. P. Simmons officiating. Interment will be in Ruckman Cemetery near Mill Point with Military Rites by the Pocahontas County Veterans Honor Corps.
