Thelma Irene Sharp White, age 82, of Marlinton, passed away at her home and went to be with Jesus Christ, Thursday, July 27, 2016.
Born November 1, 1933, at Poage Lane, near Clover Lick, she was a daughter of the late Norman C. Sharp and Lola Addington Sharp Lambert.
On August 27, 1949, Thelma married her husband of 66 years, 11 months, E. Ernest White, Jr. They had three children that they raised on Douthards Creek near Minnehaha Springs.
Thelma was involved with 4-H, worked at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital, was a member of the Red Hat Society and was an active member of the New Hope Lutheran Church. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, and spent much of her time happily cooking and helping others.
She will be remembered for her sense of humor and always greeting others with a smile.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Sharp and Marie Rodgers; and two brothers, Arden Sharp and Ralph W. Sharp.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Edwin Wayne White, and Paul Douglas White, and wife, Melanie; a daughter, Irene June Free, and husband, Brad; former daughter-in-law, Evelyn Johnson; grandchildren, Cory, and wife, Jennifer, Benjamin, and wife, Beth, and Christopher; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Cody, Nathan, and Alexis Gill, and husband, Robert; great-great-grandchild, Colton; sisters, Erma Wilfong and Anna Betty Mullens; brothers, Stanford Sharp, Kenneth Sharp and Curtis Sharp; and many special nieces, nephews, friends, and sisters and brothers-in-law.
The family would like to thank all the neighbors, friends and family for their kind help and support. Also, a special thanks to the Hospice nurses, Pocahontas Memorial Hospital staff and their church family. Thelma loved and was loved by many. She will be missed by all.
Funeral service was July 31 at VanReenen Funeral Home with Rev. Jess Felici officiating. Interment was in the White Cemetery in Minnehaha Springs.
