Israel James Williams, III, age 76, of Salem, passed away Friday, July 22, 2016, at his home.
Born March 3, 1940, at Marlinton, he was a son of the late Israel James Williams, II, and Nadine Williams McComb.
Israel was an entrepreneur and ran Main Street Promotions for many years. He enjoyed life to the fullest and was a very entertaining individual.
He graduated from Marlinton High School and attended Salem College. He served in the United States Army. He traveled all over the country, promoting antiques shows at malls. He had a retail location in Clarksburg and Bridgeport, and later ran the business on eBay from his home.
Israel served one term on the Salem City Council and was on the Salem Ten Mile Watershed Association. He attended Salem Baptist Church and Salem Church of God.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Kay Adams Williams, December 2, 2000; and a brother, Bobby McComb.
He is survived by a daughter, Tiffin Dawn Bland, and husband, Billy J., of Clarksburg; a special friend, Rachel Skinner, and husband, David, of Clarksburg; and close friends, David Mayle and Al Swiger.
Family will receive friends Friday, July 29, from 3 to 8 p.m.; and Saturday, July 30, from 9 a.m. until time of service at Greathouse Funeral Home, 1999 W. Main Street, Salem. Funeral service is Saturday, July 30, 1 p.m. with Pastors Mike Cox and Don Smith officiating. Interment will be in K of P Cemetery with Military Rites by the Harrison County Honor Guard and the United States Army Reserve from Camp Dawson.
