Where the mountain river flows and the rhododendron grows, Annabelle Dunbrack McNeill, age 92, of Buckeye, answered the Master’s call and joined her beloved Jim, Tuesday, May 31, 2016.
Annabelle was the fourth of five daughters born to the late Marvin and Flossie Via Dunbrack. Annabelle was a member of the Swago United Methodist Church, UMW, Edray Charge treasurer, 4-H Leaders Association, 50 year-plus member of the Swago CEOS, Farm Bureau, volunteer at Pocahontas Center and Pocahontas County 4-H Camp.
In addition to being a homemaker, Annabelle worked for William and Pifer’s, Sears Catalog Center and the West Virginia Division of Highways. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, James W. McNeill; sisters, Blanche Gwin, Thelma Perry and Gladys Waugh; a grandson, Jeff Hunt; and several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by a son, Blix McNeill, of Buckeye; a daughter, Cheryl McCallister, and husband, Larry, of Washington; grandchildren; Stacy Cook, of Morgantown, Kari Lowe, of Parkersburg, Jamie McNeill, of Buckeye, and Rhonda Withers, of Marlinton; nine great- grandchildren; and a sister, Geraldine Nuckoles, of Kernersville, North Carolina.
A Celebration of Life was held June 6 at VanReenen Funeral Home with Pastor Sam Felton officiating. Annabelle was laid to rest in Buckeye in the McNeill Cemetery, among green meadows and hilly pastures – “Where the rocks are honeycomb.”
