L.D. Hanna & Son Excavation Contractors, a Lewisburg company, began demolition Monday morning at the site of the November 10 fire in downtown Marlinton. The Dirt Bean bike finally met its match and tumbles toward the sidewalk. The company is currently contracted to remove debris at the Old Bank Building and Dirt Bean lots. Company foreman Chad Hanna estimated debris removal on those two lots could be completed within two weeks. Marlinton Mayor Joe Smith said he hoped insurance agents for the owners of the the former Hudson’s Variety lot could hire Hanna to clear the third building lot devastated by the fire, thereby expediting the clean-up process.
