Violet Ruth Banton, age 94, of Durbin, passed away Monday, February 29, 2016, at Pocahontas Center in Marlinton.
Born August 15, 1921, at Fairview, she was a daughter of the late Dency Eddie and Gosha Underwood Sharp.
Violet was a homemaker. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to crochet, knit, quilt and at one time, loved gardening.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Gordon Banton, who passed away July 15, 1978; sisters, Georgia Sharp Hutchings and Mary Sharp Tersigni; and a brother, Dice Sharp.
Those left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Barbara B. Wilfong, and husband, Danny, of Conway, South Carolina; grandchildren, Brian Wilfong, and wife, Mary, of Spotsylvania County, Virginia, and Leslie Wilfong, of Northern Virginia; great-grandsons, Hunter Garrett Wilfong and Thomas James Wilfong; sisters, Myra Blankenship and Betty S. McPaters, both of Marlinton; and a brother, Dency “Buss” Sharp, and wife, Bev, of Canton, Ohio.
Funeral service is Sunday, March 6, 1 p.m. at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale with Pastor David Rittenhouse officiating. Interment will be in Arbovale Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
