Sandra Lee “Sandy” Doig, age 79, peacefully passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Lincolnwood Rehab Health Center in Rhode Island.
Born October 2, 1946, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, she was a daughter of the late William “Bill” and Marguerite “Squirt” Williams Doig.
Sandy was a graduate of Pawtucket West High School – Class of 1964 and went on to dedicate 34 years to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. An avid golfer, she was a member at Lincoln and Louisquisset Country Clubs in Rhode Island. She had three remarkable holes-in-one and earned the distinction of being Lincoln’s top women golfer for eight years and won countless other area tournaments and awards.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dyrlia and Mary Elizabeth Williams; uncle, John “Chipper” Williams; and aunt, Libby Williams Rexrode.
Sandy leaves behind a family of cousins in Maryland who dearly loved her, including Jane Rexrode Sowers, Dave Sowers and Becky Stalnaker; Beth Chirico in Delaware, and Doug Sowers in Texas, and more than 20 second and third cousins in various states.
In accordance with Sandy’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held later to honor her life and she will be inurned next to her loving parents at Mountain View Cemetery.
