Clarence Andrew Friel, age 85, of Cook Town, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at Pocahontas Center in Marlinton.
Born February 22, 1930, in Nicholas County, he was a son of the late Warick and Vergie Payne Friel.
Clarence was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korea Conflict era. He was of the Baptist faith, a member of the Pocahontas County Veterans Honor Corps, VFW and an equipment operator for W.M. Cramer Lumber Company.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Jane Friel; and two sisters, Ada Galford and Mary Ryder.
He is survived by three sons, Steven Friel, and companion, Wanessa Cassell, of Hillsboro, Richard Friel, and companion, Sara Warner, of Durbin, and Marvin Friel, and wife, Shelley, of Selma, North Carolina; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Adele Loudermilk, and Steve Smith, of Charlottesville, Virginia; and two brothers, Forest Friel, and wife, Susie, of Marlinton, and Charles Friel, and wife, Kathy, of Windel, North Carolina.
Family will receive friends Friday, December 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lantz Funeral Home in Buckeye. Funeral service will be Saturday, December 19, 11 a.m. at Lantz Funeral Home with Pastor Phillip Thompson officiating. Interment will be in Clawson Cemetery on Thorny Creek with Military Graveside Rites by the Pocahontas County Veterans Honor Corps.
