Everett McKinley Murphy, Jr., age 87, of Green Bank, passed away December 9, 2015, at Montgomery General Hospital.
Born September 29, 1928, he was a son of the late Everett Murphy, Sr, and Cleo Murphy.
Everett was owner and operator of Murphy’s Petroleum in Fayette County.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Persinger Murphy; and twin sons, Michael Murphy and Mitchell Murphy.
He is survived by his son, Timothy Murphy, and wife, Cynthia, of Maple Heights, Ohio; daughters, Cathy Darling, and husband, Jim, of Montgomery, and Joy Stansberry, and husband, Howard, of Raeford, North Carolina; step-children, Garrett Persinger, of Athens, and Sharon Beth Persinger, of New Paltz, New York; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Green Bank Senior Center, along with his nephews, David Murphy and Howard Murphy, for all their help and care.
Funeral service was December 12 at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale with Pastor David Rittenhouse officiating. Interment was in Arbovale Cemetery.
